PLANT DESCRIPTION

HABIT :  A perennial twiner, nodes thickened.
LEAVES:  Opposite, elliptic oblong to linear-lanceolate, variegated with white above.
FLOWER :  Flowers in cymes, bracts ovate, calyx 5-lobed. Corolla rotate, green outside, purple inside, lobes 5, valvate, corona of 5 scales. Stamens 5, filaments distinct, ovary of 2 free carpels.
FRUIT :  Follicles 2, straight.
FLOWERING AND FRUITING TIME :  Most part of the year.

MEDICINAL USES

It is one of the Rasayana plants of Ayurveda, as it is anabolic in its effect.
It is used for venereal diseases, herpes, skin diseases, arthritis, rheumatism, gout, epilepsy, insanity, chronic nervous diseases, abdominal distention, intestinal gas, debility, impotence and turbid urine.
Indian Sarsaparilla Organic is used as a blood purifier and for balancing hormones, to improve immunity, treatment of cancer and tumor growth, cleanse liver and gallbladder.
