PLANT DESCRIPTION

HABIT :  A large, stout straggly shrub, with milky juice with climbing habit.
LEAVES :  Large, ovate or ovate-lanceolate acuminate, base cordate, soft and fleshy.
FLOWER :  Large, few-flowered cymes, rose or light mauve colour. Calyx small, Corolla large, funnel-shaped, pliated.
FLOWERING AND FRUTING TIME :  All the year round.

MEDICINAL USES

Carnea plant possess anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-oxidant, anti-cancer, anti-convulsant, immunomodulatory, anti-diabetic, hepatoprotective, anti-inflammatory, anxiolytic, sedative and wound healing activities.
Besides its use to treat abdominal diseases, fevers, headache and bronchitis.
This plant's hot water extract has antirheumatic properties and lowers the teratogenic effects of cyclophosphamide.
It has sedative and anticonvulsant properties as well.
